What the Flock?

I picked up some flocking (yes, that is the word) and tried it out in a BARD case last night. Results were pretty good. It has a crushed velvet feel to it and provides a uniform covering on both the bottom and the sides of the case. I think it adds a little extra "umph" to a case. One possible downside is that it doesn't act as a great cushion for minis since the flocking is so thin. I think I'll continue to include the normal thin padding in addition to the flocking for added protection. When you want to use half of the BARD as a dice tray, just remove the pad and roll on top of the flocking.
Add-on fee for the flocking is $10. Current color availability is only the red shown.
New Woods available

Backers,
While the project never gained the traction that I hoped, I still believe that there will be a last week surge putting us well over the goal amount. I was hoping that the project would do well enough that I could open up dozens of different woods, but alas, it has not unfolded the way I thought it would.
But I see no reason why you, my loyal backers, should be limited in your wood choices. I've added several popular (and a couple new) woods to the list that will be available at the end of the project. These are woods that I either have in stock now or feel confident that I can find homes for in the future. So feel free to choose from any of the woods below.
Furthermore, if there is a specific wood you want, drop me a message in the comments section. I'll let you know if it is available and a pricing on it.
So here is the list. We have 7 days left...lets see if we can get people on board before the 31st.

Took a couple pics of the different felt colors and the suede option. I'm also going to allow a flocking upgrade for $10 after the project ends. I probably won't get a picture up before the end of the project, but will definitely get one up before the surveys are over.
Thanks again, and spread the word!

Well, it has taken a little longer than I had hoped to reach this milestone, but we did accomplish the first unlock. So here is what you get:
Choice of felt color
I found three more colors of felt which will look good with the cases. Yes, I could go haywire and post about 20 different colors, so if you *really* want a different color let me know and I'll see if it is available. But if you are just looking for a little variety you can choose between the standard green, burgundy, royal blue, or black. I'll get some pics on the main page tomorrow.
I also have a suede option. It is a nice brown color suede fabric. Since it doesn't have the mass that felt has, I'll be applying it over a layer of thin foam. The final result should look pretty nice. Again, I'll get a pic up on Friday.
Some answers to a couple questions that have been asked:
Q. XYZ wood hasn't been released yet, but I want a case in that wood. Can I still get it?
A. Maybe...it depends on if I have the wood in stock. I can say that I have a good supply of bloodwood, I should have some extra wood in bubinga, zebrawood, and possibly wenge. Outside of that, I'd have to check.
Q. But I REALLY want XYZ wood. Can I get it now?
A. Maybe...the problem is that I can't just pick up the foot or two of wood it would take to make the case. I have to get a full board from my supplier and I may or may not be able to use the rest of the board. So, if you want a case made from ebony...well, that wood costs me about $125 a foot...if I have to spend $500 on the board and your order isn't going to cover that amount....welll...you can see where I am running into problems...But if you are looking at a more common (less expensive) wood that I have a good chance of finding more buyers for, then we can work something out.
Q. What was this "Dice Promotion" that you had listed on the goals page?
A. Ahh....well, talk about missed opportunities (unless things really pick up here at the last week.) I happened to meet a fellow at Gen Con who hand makes d6 dice out of rare woods. I'm a big believer in networking and trying to get things open to more people, so he and I worked out a deal where he would make these dice as an add-on for this project. Here is a pic of a die in snakewood.
So, if anyone is interested, let me know and I'll see if we can work something out.
That is all for now, I think.
report from Con on the Cob

Pretty good Saturday at Con on The Cob. I'll be honest and say that I was a little worried after a very slow Thursday and Friday, but there was a good crowd out today and I got lots of compliments on the new line of cases. Talked with Jeremy (?) at Kicking the Table Podcast who bought a case. They mentioned the MONK and BARD cases on their podcast. I'm at about 35:35 on episode 57. Listen to their show at: http://kickthetablepodcast.com/podcast/…
A couple other shout-outs from Con on The Cob. Talked to Matt Lemke from Through Gamer Goggles. I just spent a few minutes on his webpage and it is worth taking a look. Take a look at the FB page too for some reviews on games. https://www.facebook.com/Throughgamersgoggles
Jack Gibbons of Bishop Wandery showed me some of the hardwood wands he's made. Some very nice ones in Lignum Vitae, cocobolo, and others and very reasonably priced. I've tried making wands in the past and know the time and difficulty in making these. Go like his page and see what he has available. https://www.facebook.com/BishopWandery
Finally, Ronnie Breedlove makes some great pens. I make pens as well, but I think I can safely say that our styles and hardware selection are different enough that we don't encroach on each other's products. He does a lot of work with acrylic blanks and his finish work is some of the best that I've seen. He doesn't have a FB page, but check him out on Etsy at PenPaperDesign.
I'll be back down at Con on the Cob tomorrow for the final day. I'm going to unveil a super-secret 1 day special, so if you are reading this and going to be at the Con, come by the booth. I have 6 of these to sell, and once they are gone, they are gone.
I have links to the FB pages of the people I mentioned on my FB page. If you are interested in seeing more about them, go to my page here: https://www.facebook.com/HrothgarsHoard
